No waste, no problem: Social Impact Hub hosts second Design Jam
Curtin’s Social Impact Hub team recently led its second Design Jam in partnership with the Canning Agriculture, Horticulture & Recreational Society (CAHRS) to help transition their annual Canning Show to a zero-waste event.
The day-long event saw 22 students work alongside staff and industry experts to come up with innovative ideas and solutions, culminating in five-minute pitches to a panel of judges.
Students experienced real-world dilemmas, problem-solving and teamwork while engaging with real industry stakeholders. Numerous ideas were generated that will continue to be developed by community partners, including the winning team’s ‘CAHRS Cares’ waste education bicycle that was accompanied by a central waste sorting station.
Thank you to everyone involved, including the Social Impact Hub team, the students, CAHRS, the City of Canning, Waste Authority and Cleanaway.
