Campus Sessions
If your session is being delivered on campus and there is no dedicated online equivalent, you must also provide a live online access option via iLecture Live Webcast or Webex.
Many students are unable to attend in person, and Orientation data shows that few students watch recordings after O-Week. Providing a live viewing option is therefore essential.
When creating your session in the Personalised Orientation Planner (POP), include:
- The on-campus location
- The online access link
Both iLecture Live Webcast and Webex allow online participants to ask questions during the session, although this feature can be disabled if preferred.

Online-Only Sessions
While Curtin’s priority is to drive on-campus participation in Orientation, we must also plan for O-Week sessions to be accessible online. This is to account for students who cannot attend campus because they are unwell, studying online, in remote, regional and rural areas and offshore.
For sessions delivered exclusively online, iLecture Live Webcast and Webex are the recommended platforms.
Choosing a Platform
Staff should carefully consider the limitations of alternative platforms when planning and delivering Orientation sessions.
