At Curtin caring is an expression grounded in relationships and translated into action to create safe and inclusive work and learning environments and support staff and students.
Care is a commitment to accessibility, fostering respectful relationships and building a Curtin community where all staff and students can thrive. Doing so is an expression of our Curtin values and intrinsic to the realisation of our 2030 Strategic Plan.
To ensure a supportive experience for all people, Curtin is required to take reasonable and appropriate measures to actively eliminate discrimination on the basis of intersectional social and cultural factors such as race, ethnicity, disability, gender, sex and other aspects of identity.
As a resource, Caring at Curtin takes a holistic approach, recognising that caring may require us to draw from many areas across the university. When exploring the sections below, think intersectionally: these resources interact and support each other, selecting one is not to the exclusion of another.
The information, resources, training and initiatives on this page are offered to support staff in fostering care within our university community and includes:
• How Curtin supports staff with caring responsibilities or care requirements
• Ways to contribute to safe, supportive and respectful work environments
• Resources and guidance for caring for students
• Services, policies, programs and networks
Curtin recognises that staff may require support in areas relating to care. Curtin has provisions, resources and training available for staff who require support and staff who would like to know more about contributing to safe, respectful workplaces.
