The National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2025 incorporates a revised Section 4 as well as changes to other sections and some additional minor changes (see below).
The effective date of the 2025 National Statement has been postponed to early 2026 (date to be advised). From the effective date, the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2023 will be revoked and researchers submitting human research proposals for ethics review, ethics review bodies and those involved in research governance will be expected to apply the guidance in the 2025 National Statement.
The NHMRC have added a Frequently Asked Questions section about the changes to the 2025 National Statement.
