Critical Technologies refer to current and emerging technologies that have been identified to have a significant impact on Australian national interests – namely economic prosperity, national security and social cohesion. Technologies deemed critical to Australia’s national interest may be subject to additional government and university protection and promotion initiatives, as they contain a greater risk potential to foreign interference.
As a global leader in research, Curtin engages in the development of a number of critical technologies which may require additional confidentiality and protection. Additional risk management or focus my be required if you are engaged in projects involving current or potential critical technology (see below ‘List of Critical Technologies in the national interest‘).
Please note, the List is not exhaustive and does not itself imply or offer any recommended or prohibited actions. However, inclusion of a technology on the List does imply that there is a perceived value in the national interest, and there is an associated risk of unwanted technology transfer.
